The Christopher B. Eschenbach '01 Memorial Scholarship
The purpose of this scholarship is to honor the memory of Chris Eschenbach. It will be awarded to conscientious, undergraduate students of Plymouth State University working toward a Theatre degree with a focus in design and technology, who have financial need as confirmed by the Financial Aid Office. Financial need is determined by the evaluation of a student’s annually completed FAFSA. The annual recipient or recipients shall be selected by the Silver Center Staff. Students must be attending PSU during the upcoming school year to be eligible to receive the scholarship.
HISTORY : Chris Eschenbach was a student at Plymouth State College in the early 1990’s. He was a technician, actor, singer, and loved working in the arts. After graduating from Plymouth State College, he first moved to Iowa to work for Iowa State University’s theatre. He eventually returned to New England, starting his 15-year career at the American Repertory Theatre in Cambridge, MA. Chris worked as the Assistant Stage Supervisor as well as working in their scene shop. When Chris passed away after a battle with liver disease in 2016, his friends and family set up a scholarship in his memory. The amount of the scholarship award is either $500 or $1000, depending on whether the committee selects one or two scholarship recipients, and is applied directly toward tuition for the upcoming academic year.
