Brennan Hart Memorial Fund

The purpose of this endowment is to honor Brennan Hart and, in his memory, to award a scholarship to a conscientious, undergraduate student of Plymouth State University who is involved in outdoor recreational activities and demonstrates outdoor leadership ability (apart from team athletics), and who has a financial need as confirmed by the Financial Aid Office. Financial need is determined by the evaluation of a student’s annually completed FAFSA. Student must be attending PSU during the upcoming academic school year to be eligible to receive the scholarship.

History of the Scholarship:

Brennan Hart was a student at Plymouth State College in the early 1980’s and was very active in the Outing Club. While riding his bike home from Spring Fling weekend, back when it was held at a campground and called the Bluegrass Festival, he was hit by a motorist and killed. His bachelor’s degree was awarded posthumously and his family set up an endowed scholarship in his memory. The amount of the scholarship award varies between $2775 or $5550, depending on whether the committee selects one or two scholarship recipients, and is applied directly toward tuition for the upcoming academic year
